Foiled again!

Hahaha! Well, my genious plans for painting were foiled by life in general. It got started, but alas, it will have to wait. I do have all the supplies now, so one of these days I'll just pull it out and "git'er'done"! Until then, I'm just excited to spend some time with family this Thursday, and joing the madness the day after with my mom and my sister. :D Oh ya, it's gonna be awesome...

Paint

I have finally found the paint that I want to use for our bedroom. But I am a little hesitant...why you may ask? Well, I will be the first one to admit that I am not all that crafty. Allbeit I am doing MUCH better in climbing up the "Crafty Scale," but I'm scared I will bite off more than I can chew in this one. :D
This particular look I want involves glazing. Not once, but twice. So from what I understand from all the little freebie paint pamphlets you can accumulate from the Home Depot, I will paint the base coat and leave it to dry for at least 24 hours. Then I mix glaze with paint, use a sea sponge thingamagig (hehe ya like that spelling? yeah baby!) to carefully sponge/mix on this glaze. Then let that dry, and apply a third, darker coat and blend that in. In the picture, this looks awesome!!! Under the direction of me...it could be interesting, let's just leave it at that.

SO, I guess I'm looking for people who have "Glazing Tips" that they would like to share that may make this process go a little smoother (no pun intended ;) hehe). Anywho, I am excited about it, I think it will look great. Now I just need to plan for about 3 days in a row that I have work off before Thanksgiving...

Hope everyone is having a FANTABULOUS fall day! Smile big! :D

Shame, Shame...

Yea, it is pathetic really to look at your blog and realize it's almost 3 months since my last post. HA! Oh well, here is the rapid overview of the last little bit to let ya'll know that we really are still alive and lovin' life! This is my favorite time of the year and I'm so excited for the rest to come!!!

First off, Happy 24th Birthday to me! :D We had a fun relaxing weekend at home, and enjoyed watching conference over at my parents house. I fixed a cheesecake and the family came over to celebrate with us. Good times!!
And I have some updated house pictures for those who are wondering how our painting and "remodeling" went...but these pictures are a little out of order- oh well.
First I have to brag on my very handy hubby! He has done a great job at building, adding, painting, everything. He's amazing! He built in these added shelves for our closet and also made it a double bar whatever you call it on the other side that you really can't see in this picture. But it made all the difference for space!

Then he framed in and finished some storage rooms in the basement. Here are the saweet roller shelves to help rotate canned goods...

And the view of the rest of the "Food storage"- we've really been trying to build up our food storage. I actually went to the cannery with the RS in our ward the other day and got some stuff. Fun stuff!

Here lies "Man Land" for now. This is our "Extra stuff storage" for things like camping gear, snowmobile gear, hunting gear...are we sensing a theme here? hehe

These things are a complete accident, but I love them!! Long story short, Home Depot messed up on our order of appliances and we were moving in without a washer and dryer. SO we went to the store and they gave us these as an upgrade, free of charge to us. Wahoo!!!!

Here is a view of the kitchen with the green paint that we did. Not the best picture, but I think it turned out nice with the cabinets...now I just need to finish adding some decorations. Ideas and suggestions welcome!

Here's the living room, we added all the brown paint...

Our corner shelf with just some nicknacks...but Evan actually pretty much this together himself. Two points for you dear!

And something I've waited a long time to see, our diplomas up on the wall. This was a goal I've always had, and I want our kids to know that education is important and such a blessing!!

And, as the die-hard Disney fan that I am, I got this "Wish" sign at a white-elephant gift thingy a couple of years ago. And I love the stars that people are using to decorate with, so this is what ya get walking out of the hallway...

In other news, my sister-in-law Jen and their baby Ethan came to visit for a few days!! It was so fun to hang out with them for a little while, and Ethan is SO CUTE! Anywho here's a picture of us together...

And this is my altime favorite picture of my oldest brother. Unfortunately, he kinda used to scare all the neices and nephews when they were small. He is such a softie, but he finally found his perfect little buddy! :D Also for Ward, he and Jonell are going to have a baby boy themselves next April (I think) and they are very happy. Trey is ecstatic to be a big brother too! It will be fun.

Anywho, that's the rapid review for the Hansens. Hope you all are well !! Come and visit anytime, we love the company and now have room to accomodate company. At least so that they don't have to camp out in the kitchen :).

August Already?!

Holy smokes time does fly! I apologize for being so slow to do a post. Life is going great, we are in our house and I finally have had time to get our internet up and running so hopefully I'll get some pictures posted up soon.

We LOVE having a house, the neighborhood is quiet and all the people are genuinely nice and welcoming. We have really liked our new ward so far, and we're excited to get to know more people.

The last month or so has been fun. I spent the 4th of July at work :( but did get to watch the fireworks with Evan's family that was in town. Evan on the other hand was out camping with his dad and brothers, and my parents were out visiting Judd, Jen and the new baby Ethan. He is SO CUTE! As well as being very loved and well fed ;) hehe He is growing like a weed, but I can't wait to see him in a few weeks.

My sister came and visited for a few weeks with her kids. It was so good to see them, it's been too long!!! But while they were here we took the kids to Reed's Dairy, the Titanic Exhibit (very cool bytheway if you haven't seen it yet...), and set up a homemade water slide in the backyard. That was fun! They even got to make their very first S'mores. What on earth are these people in the South thinking?! No s'mores?! Oi ve! :)

Last weekend I got to make the trek down to Ross Park for the first time. It was so fun!! I can't believe I lived in Pocatello for 5 years and never went there! The kids were a riot to watch play in the water, and I didn't get too sunburned, so it was a success. No pictures (sad day, I know) but hopefully we will be back soon.

Anywho, that's about it for now. I'll try to post some pictures of our adventures soon. Until then, take care and I hope everyone is doing fantabulous this fine sunny August day!

New Nephew!!

I'm SO EXCITED!!!!!!! My brother Judd and his beautiful wife Jen had their first baby this morning! A little boy named Ethan, and I tell you what we have been anxiously waiting for this little man to show up. His due date was Sunday, and his poor parents were beginning to wonder if he'd ever come. But he is here now and I am ecstatic!

CONGRATS Jen and Judd!! I can't wait to see you and your little guy. LOVE YOU!!!!

(Pictures to come, I haven't seen any yet...grrrrrrrrrrrr....)

We have a house!!

Well, we are almost there. They have accepted our offer, and now we get to jump through some hoops, but hopefully we will be closing in about three weeks and we will officially own our first home!!!! Here are some pictures. It's a very cute house, built in 2007 and seems like a wonderful neighborhood. Actually, to those 14th Ward alumni, the Gunter's are going to be our next-door neighbors--how awesome is that?! Anywho, we wanted to share our happy news and get some pictures up for people to see. These are the ones they have online for the listing...

Here is a view of the front room just as you walk in. I love the window! The yard needs a little work, but the lawn is in already so that's a bonus!

Here is the kitchen. We have to buy our own appliances, but that's really okay with me because that way I can pick out things I like and that I know are clean ;) I'm wierd that way!!

Here is a view of part of the master bedroom with a walk-in closet-- yay!!! Evan still doesn't think there will be enough room for our stuff, but this is WAY bigger that anything we've had so far and we've survived just fine, so I think it will be okay... ;)

The master bathroom- how cool!

I'll post some others once we have them. We have a fairly good-sized yard in the back which is nice. There are three bedrooms and two baths upstairs with a full unfinished basement. Evan is really excited about being able to do some building down there himself. One thing though, as you look at the picture you may notice something...ALL the walls are WHITE! Everything is white! SO, I am not a crafty person and would love any and all advice of some ideas for color that we can spruce up the space with.

Anyways, here it is and we are way excited!!

A house...perhaps...

Who knew looking for a house could be so stressful?! Holy cow! But it has been fun to look around, see what you like and what you can hopefully plan for in the future... :)

We did find one on a Smokin' deal and put an offer on it today so we will see what happens! I'm really excited to see if it is accepted, we'll keep ya posted! Until then keep your fingers crossed please :D

Update

Hey there! I thought I'd just to a quick update about what we've been up to lately. Summer is finally here and we have been loving the beautiful weather! Evan and I went camping over Memorial Day weekend with most of his family up in Driggs. They staked out this great space for us, big open meadow with plenty of room for all the tents and horses and dogs....yep, it was a full house. I'll have to add pictures later, but it was a great time.

I've been working quite a bit lately, but I really love my job with MountainView. I work three 12 hour shifts a week, so that makes it nice. Sometimes the days get long, but I have great co-workers that keep it fun. Evan likes his new job too, he has some great guys in his office that he gets along with great. It never ceases to amaze me how quickly guys can get comfortable with each other. I mean, keeping the air freshener on the desk and blatantly using it? Seriously! ;) hehe But I am SO glad he's not gone so much anymore.

Above that, we've started looking at houses. Holy smokes, the thought of owing that much money is SCARY! :S But we are so excited to finally be able to buy a home to call our own!! :D We'll see what happens- Wish us luck!

I PASSED!!!!!!!!!!!!

I took my registry test today and I passed!!! I am SOOOO EXCITED!!!!
Anyways, I am absolutely done with all my school stuff and
can almost call myself an official RadTech!
I have to wait for a few weeks for my official score and
credentials to come in the mail, but I passed!!
Let the rejoicing begin... :D

Graduation!!!!!

Well it finally came, graduation day!!!! Evan was a stinker and refused to walk, but he was a trooper and came to graduation for me. It was so fun! We had a great time entertaining ourselves on the field while people who went to school for a really long time got their hoodies, etc etc etc... Anywho, it's official, I am done with school- HECK YA!!!!!!! Here's some fun pics from the last few days of my college career... how cool is that?!

Our coordinator from the hospital threw a little party for our clinical group, Yum!!
Here's my clinical group and our fearless leader...ah the memories! We had a great group!
Me and my gal Kristin at GRADUATION!!!

Me and my Hubby!! Both college graduates, I think that is so awesome!!!! And he was so awesome to come and support me even though he didn't want to walk, what a guy! ;)
A picture I've waited a long time to see... go Bengals!!

I can honestly say that I have enjoyed my time in college. ISU has been great, we made so many great friends in Pocatello (shout out to the 14th Ward!! and lots of others too ;) hehe) and truly were sad to leave. I am SOOOOO glad to be done with school, I'm not gonna lie, but it was a great ime. The Radiology Program is the best and I wouldn't have it any other way!!!

A "Wicked" Weekend!!

I finally have some time to post, the last few weeks have been crazy! But we're almost there, only two weeks until graduation!!!!! I can't WAIT!! But, I got to do something incredibly exciting a few weeks ago.
I spent the weekend with my mom, my awesome bud Paige, and her mom in Salt Lake. We went shopping and hung out, I finally got to go to Ikea--that store is so cool! I will absolutely go back there when I have a house to decorate. We also ate at this totally cute little restaurant called "Bucca's" that's just down the street from PF Chang's. It looks kinda dumpy from the outside, but it is SO fun and the food is amazing!! I tried Bruscetta for the first time- YUM!
But the best part of the weeked was going to see the musical Wicked at the Capitol Theatre!! It was AMAZING!!! If any of you have not seen or heard of it, it's very worth your time. Basically, it's the pre-Wizard of Oz story. It tells the story of Elphaba, the "Wicked" Witch of the West, and how she and Glinda met and became friends in college, and then how she becomes "wicked." The music is incredible and very moving. The gal that played Elphaba in our show was SO GOOD!! I loved her voice and how she brought her own things to the character. I just can't say enough about it, I was extremely anxious to see this show and it was all I was hoping it would be!! (I'm still a little excited about it, can ya tell? ;) hehe) Anywho, to show my enthusiasm, enjoy the ginormous set of pics to follow...but thanks Paigie, Melanie and Mom for a fantastic time!!

Here's Paige as we get ready to leave on our road trip
The beautiful Capitol Theatre--it's very old-fashioned with the red velvet everywhere and stuff

Me and my gal before the show...
The Stage-- The TimeClock Dragon and a map of Oz
A view of the theater from the balcony
Paige and her cute mom--love these gals!!
Me and my beautiful Mom (pardon my big head though-yikes!
The two amazing leads for Glinda and Elphaba--all I can say is WOW!!The whole cast taking a bow, they put on a great show!! If you ever get a chance, you HAVE to see this musical!
Mom getting treasures at the "Oz Dust Boutique"--I got a REALLY awesome shirt and a "Wicked" pin that I can wear on my lanyard at work.
After the show, all smiles!

Anywho, hope you enjoyed the pics. It was an awesome trip and a fantastic show!! Now I just want to see it in New York on Broadway...hubby? ;)

Spring Break

What joy one little week can bring! :D
Although it still contains lots of work and studying for the tests, etc. to come in the next 5 weeks, it has already been a welcome relief! After this week, I officially only have 15 more days of working for free at clinicals, and come the first week in May I will be an official college graduate! Saweet!!!! Hopefully the sun will start shining for the last half of the week, but even if it doesn't I LOVE Spring Break!! Too bad the working world doesn't follow suit and give everyone a full week off in March... ;)

Vegas baby!!!

In February Evan and I went to Las Vegas for the RadTech Conference that's held there every year. Pretty much my whole class was able to go and it was a LOT of fun. I had never been to Vegas before so everything was pretty much amazing and I took TONZ of pictures. I tried to pick some to sum it all up, but of course it doesn't give the whole things justice. But it was a great trip!! The weather was great, about 70 degrees and sunny during the day-wow! We had fun being together, seeing the sights, and hanging out with friends. I would love to go back someday to focus on a few things rather than try to see everything at once, see some shows and stuff. So Vegas, until then, thanks for the memories!

We stayed at the Silverton, which was at the sound end of the strip, but VERY nice. I'm glad we stayed there, and so was Evan because there was a Bass Pro Shop inside!! Cool beans!

The buildings were gorgeous!!
There was an aquarium in the front lobby of our hotel, and this guy was in there talking about all the fish species and feeding the rays. What a fun job!!!
